Social Health Authority Appoints 23 New Assistant Directors Across Kenya
The Social Health Authority (SHA) has announced the appointment of 23 new assistant directors to strengthen its management and improve service delivery across the country.
In a statement released on Friday, October 31, 2025, SHA Board Chairperson Abdi Mohamed said the appointments followed a competitive recruitment process that began in July 2025.
He explained that the new directors bring valuable experience and are expected to boost the Authority’s operational capacity as it continues to expand healthcare services nationwide.

Among those appointed are Rose Nakhungu Nandasaba as Assistant Director for Legal Services, Adow Osman Ahmed for Registration and Compliance, and Moindi Kevin Omai for Supply Chain Management.
Other appointments include Beatrice Chengat Kimale and Douglas Odhiambo Owino in Planning and Linkages, while Mercy Kamene Mutua and James Letangule will oversee Benefits Management. Samira Swaleh and Kennedy Kirichu Ndegwa will serve in Fund Management.
In the Finance and Accounts Directorate, Mohammed Elmi and Irene Jepng’etich Rono were appointed Assistant Directors. The Administration Department will now include Callista Kendi Omwenga and Timothy Musyoka Malusi, while Maurreen Cherwon, Khadija Ali Juma, and Bria Muriithi Mugambi join the Human Resource and Customer Experience divisions.
In the ICT department, Julius Kiamba Muli has been appointed as Assistant Director, while Fardoda Abdi Ali and Gilbert Mogambi Osoro will serve in Registration and Compliance. Julia Ouko will head Provider Management, and James Tama together with Samson Nthei will serve in Internal Audit.
The latest appointments come just weeks after SHA announced the promotion of 16 new Deputy Directors and 9 Principal Claims Management Officers earlier in October 2025.
SHA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mercy Mwangangi praised the new team, noting that their inclusion would help the Authority deliver on its promise of universal healthcare.
“These appointments mark another important step in building a stronger, more efficient Social Health Authority that serves Kenyans better,” she said.
