Congregation Bursts into Laughter as Wanjigi Takes a Swipe at Uhuru Over His Rising Popularity
Safina Party leader Jimi Wanjigi had the audience in Tana River County laughing on Tuesday after taking a playful jab at former President Uhuru Kenyatta during a political gathering.
Speaking about the country’s current economic situation, Wanjigi questioned the recent admiration shown towards Uhuru.
Pointing out that the former president played a key role in creating some of the challenges Kenyans face today.
“Hela yote walipora na yule jamaa (Uhuru) ambaye siku hizi mnampigia makofi.
This roughly translates to: “All the money was stolen together with Uhuru, whom you now applaud.
The debts we are paying today were pocketed by them long ago.”
Wanjigi further highlighted that the debts accumulated during Uhuru’s administration.
Which have continued under President William Ruto, would weigh on Kenyans for decades, potentially stretching until 2040.
His remarks underscored his criticism of past financial mismanagement and the long-term burden it places on ordinary citizens.
The event also featured the formal induction of Hassan Morowa, a prospective candidate for the Tana River gubernatorial seat, into the Safina Party.
Wanjigi’s humorous yet pointed commentary drew attention not only to economic concerns but also to the party’s growing political engagement in the region.
The gathering demonstrated how humor can be effectively used in political discourse to engage audiences while delivering sharp critique.
