NEWS IN: Kakamega Delegates Upset As Gladys Wanga Confuses These Two Leaders During ODM Event

ODM delegates in Kakamega County were left irritated on Sunday after Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga made a naming mistake during a key party meeting in Butere.

The incident happened at Mabole Primary School during the Linda Ground forum attended by hundreds of party members.

The forum was held in Butere, which is the political stronghold of Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya.

The meeting focused on rallying support for proposed pre-coalition talks between ODM and UDA, following a decision by the party’s Central Management Committee.

As she acknowledged leaders present at the event, Governor Wanga mistakenly referred to Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa instead of naming CS Oparanya.

The mix-up caused murmurs and visible displeasure among delegates, many of whom were openly aligned with Oparanya.

The error quickly drew attention because of the growing political tension between Oparanya and Governor Barasa.

The two leaders are currently locked in a bitter rivalry that has divided ODM supporters in Kakamega County. Wanga later corrected herself, which helped calm the crowd, but the damage had already been done.

The disagreement between Oparanya and Barasa has led to parallel ODM activities in the county. On the same day, separate Linda Ground forums were held, one in Butere led by Oparanya and another in Kakamega Town under the leadership of Governor Barasa.
