ODM Event In Kakamega Comes To A Standstill As Delegate Leads Chants Against Ruto's CS, Details
An ODM event in Kakamega turned tense on Sunday as party delegates loudly demanded the removal of Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya.
The incident happened during the party’s Linda Ground county tour at Mabole Primary School in Butere, Oparanya’s home area. Hundreds of local delegates attended the forum, which was meant to strengthen ODM’s presence in the county.
Videos from the event show delegates standing in front of seated party leaders, chanting a swahili Phrase saying Oparanya must go.

The chants were loud and persistent, reflecting deep dissatisfaction among the party members.
Political analysts say the outburst highlights growing divisions within ODM in Kakamega. The county party membership is increasingly split into two factions, one supporting CS Oparanya and the other backing Governor Fernandes Barasa.
The tension between the two leaders has created an atmosphere of mistrust and rivalry that now affects grassroots mobilization.
Despite the disruption, the event continued with ODM leader Oburu Odinga present. However, the chants overshadowed the planned discussions and created a tense environment for the forum, which was intended to rally support for the party ahead of upcoming political activities.
