A Security Guard Arrested Attacking and Trying To Disarm a Senior Police Officer His Firearm

In a startling and unprecedented incident at Kabalagala Police Station, a private watchman reportedly attempted to disarm a senior police officer, leaving both law enforcement officials and the local community bewildered.

The man, identified as Hussein Kakonge, 46, from Muyenga, had been allowed to spend the night at the station after seeking refuge. Officers provided him with a mattress and a blanket, believing he posed no threat.

However, at approximately 1 a.m., Kakonge allegedly launched an attempt to take a firearm from Senior Police Officer Bamwesigye Junior, sparking a dangerous struggle within the precinct.

A police source described the night as “unlike anything we’ve seen before — a watchman, entrusted with guarding, now threatening the very officers meant to protect him.”
