Farouk Kibet Gifts KSh 10,000 to Woman Who Named Baby After Him in Malava

Farouk kibet caused excitement in luhyaland
Malava, Kakamega County, after meeting a woman who named her newborn baby after him.

The woman spotted him along a village road and immediately burst into screams and dance, shocked that she had met the president’s aide in person.

Farouk has been in Malava for several days campaigning for UDA candidate Indakwa following the death of former MP Malulu Injendi.

His frequent visits have made him a familiar face, but the encounter with the mother stood out.

When the woman reached him, she kept calling his name and expressing her joy. She also declared her support for Indakwa.

Touched by her reaction and the gesture of naming her child after him, Farouk held the baby briefly before directing one of his team members to give her KSh 10,000.

The gift sent her into more celebration as she ululated and thanked him repeatedly.

Villagers who had gathered watched the interaction with amusement.

Reactions online were mixed. Some Kenyans praised the moment as harmless excitement, while others said the scene reflected the economic challenges people face.

A few criticised the woman’s reaction, saying it showed how easily voters can be swayed during campaigns.

Malava politics have been tense, especially after Senator Boni Khalwale warned Farouk to keep off local affairs.

Khalwale accused him of interfering with Western Kenya politics and urged residents to choose their leader without external influence.

The seat became vacant after the death of Malulu Injendi, attracting several candidates hoping to take over. Farouk’s encounter with the woman has since become one of the most talked-about moments on the campaign trail.
