"Farouk Kibet Tawe" Chants Erupts During by-election Campaign in Malava

A section of United Opposition leaders on Sunday took their campaigns to Malava Constituency in support of their candidate, Seth Panyako.

The team, led by Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, DCP Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala, and Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale.

Attracted large crowds as they drummed up support ahead of the November 27 by-election.

When a youth aspiring to vie for the Kakamega Women Representative seat, was invited to address, she electrified the crowd by leading them in chants of “UDA tawe!”

She took a swipe at President William Ruto’s aide, Farouk Kibet, accusing him of camping in Malava to campaign for the UDA candidate. The crowd responded by chanting “Farouk tawe!”

She expressed surprise that their internal opinion poll had shown 20 percent of voters were still backing the UDA candidate, David Ndakwa.

“Kuna mtu atapigia UDA kura hapa?” she asked, prompting the crowd to roar back, “Hakuna!”

Last week, the Democratic Change Party (DCP) withdrew from the race, saying a scientific survey had shown that Panyako was the strongest opposition candidate in Malava.

He claimed that some of their opponents were bribing voters but vowed that the unity wave would not be stopped.
