Senator Khalwale Forced To Cut Speech Short In Malava and Join Residents in Making These Chants
Senator Boni Khalwale has joined Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya in campaigning for Democratic Action Party–Kenya (DAP-K) candidate Seth Panyako ahead of the Malava parliamentary by-election scheduled for November 27, 2025.
The collaboration between Khalwale and Natembeya marks a significant political shift in Western Kenya, as the two leaders once seen on opposing sides united to boost Panyako’s bid.
Addressing a vibrant rally in Malava town, Khalwale lauded Panyako as “a courageous and honest leader who understands the people’s struggles and deserves their trust.”
“I have known Seth Panyako for years. He is a man of integrity and courage who will not be swayed by greed or political intimidation,” Khalwale said passionately.
However, the rally took an unexpected turn when the crowd’s excitement reached a fever pitch. The chants of “Panyako! Panyako! DAP-K! DAP-K!” grew so loud that Khalwale was forced to cut short his speech.
Embracing the energy of the moment, he joined the residents in singing and chanting in support of Panyako, turning the event into a jubilant display of unity.
Governor Natembeya, the DAP-K party leader, praised the show of enthusiasm, saying it reflected the people’s hunger for transformative leadership.
“This movement is bigger than politics; it is about reclaiming dignity and service for our people,” he said.
The Malava seat became vacant after the court nullified the 2022 election results. Panyako, a former nurses’ union boss and outspoken labor rights advocate, faces stiff competition from UDA, ODM, and ANC candidates.
Analysts believe Khalwale’s endorsement and the rally’s charged atmosphere could significantly influence the outcome.
The Malava by-election is expected to serve as a litmus test for political alignments in Western Kenya ahead of the 2027 general elections.
