Luo Elder Breaks Silence, Challenges Odinga Family to End Divisions and Lead Again

Prominent Luo elder and political commentator Odoyo Owidi has sparked debate after penning a heartfelt and fiery message to the Odinga family.

Urging them to put aside internal divisions and reclaim their unifying role in Luo politics. In a powerful open letter addressed directly to the Odingas.

Owidi expressed deep appreciation for the family’s leadership over the past six decades but challenged them to rise above personal and political differences for the sake of community unity.

Owidi’s message, delivered with both reverence and frustration, painted a picture of a community that has stood loyally behind the Odinga dynasty.

From Jaramogi Oginga Odinga’s struggle for independence to Raila Odinga’s decades-long fight for democracy and justice.

He acknowledged that the Luo people have followed the family’s political direction faithfully, often without question, trusting their leadership even during difficult times.

However, Owidi noted that the current divisions and public disagreements within the Odinga household are sowing confusion and weakening the community’s political strength at a crucial moment.

He urged the family to learn from the biblical story of King Rehoboam, reminding them that the people’s plea for unity and understanding should not be ignored.

“Just as we were united for you, we now ask you to unite for us,” Owidi’s message emphasized, capturing the emotional tone of his appeal.

He warned that disunity at the top risks eroding decades of progress, diminishing the Odinga family’s moral authority, and potentially scattering the once-solid Luo political base.

His message has resonated widely across social media, with many interpreting it as both a tribute and a wake-up call.

The letter signals a growing sentiment among Luo elders and supporters who believe that the Odinga legacy must now evolve from personal influence to collective leadership.

One that preserves unity and ensures the community remains politically relevant in Kenya’s shifting landscape.
