CCTV Footage Showing The Moment Jirongo Entered The Petrol Station Emerges

CCTV footage has finally emerged shedding new light on the final moments before the fatal road crash involving former MP Cyrus Jirongo in Naivasha.

The video, captures a clear timeline of Jirongo’s movements at a nearby petrol station moments before the collision.

The footage challenges earlier speculation about the direction in which his vehicle was travelling at the time of the crash.

According to footage shared by KTN News, the late Jirongo drove into the petrol station at 2:18:40 a.m. from the Nairobi direction.

He did not stop to refuel, instead briefly pausing within the station.

At 2:19:10 a.m., the video footage captures Jirongo’s vehicle coming to a halt at the exit of a station before turning right and heading back toward Nairobi.

Investigators indicate that the collision took place almost immediately after he reentered the highway.

Initial reports suggest that the crash occurred around 2:19 a.m.

It involved Jirongo’s Mercedes-Benz, with the registration number KCZ 305U, and a public service vehicle bus registered as KCU 576A, belonging to Climax Company Ltd.

The collision was characterized as intense. Detectives noted that the head-on impact propelled Jirongo’s car approximately 25 meters from the point of collision, while the bus came to rest about 50 meters away afterward.

The bus driver, named Tyrus Kamau Githinji, has been interviewed by the police and released on cash bail while the investigation continues.

He is under scrutiny for causing death due to reckless driving and is scheduled to return to the Naivasha Traffic Base on December 22, 2025.

Additionally, investigators have gathered statements from the night guard and fuel attendant at the petrol station to support the evidence obtained from the CCTV footage.
