What Late Jirongo Allegedly Used to Do Whenever he Shared a Drink With Mudavadi During Moi's Reign

A publication by the Daily Nation media group, has disclosed to the public what former Cabinet Minister for Rural Development late Cyrus Jirongo used to do, whenever he shared a drink with Prime Cabinet Secretary CS Musalia Mudavadi, during the reign of former President Arap Moi

As per his publication on Wednesday, 17th, December, 2025, when the former Lugari lawmaker was still influential in the political arena and after his spilt with late Daniel Moi, Jirongo teamed up with other heavyweights, trying to strengthen the then United Opposition against Moi's regime.

However, President Moi was unhappy with Jirongo's ambitions in the political sphere.

During that time, Cyrus Jirongo tried to paint himself as the Luhya kingpin (to strengthen the opposition), and he would once in a while meet up with Musalia Mudavadi to enjoy their drinks, as they tried to chat and ease their tension that was as a result of the Luhya supremacy tussle.

However, whenever any one of them (Mudavadi or Jirongo) went to the washroom and came back, Jirongo would order the bartender to give him a new glass to drink from it.

As per the report, Jirongo used to request for a new glass because he considered Musalia Mudavadi to be too close to the late President Moi, as his father, the late Moses Mudavadi was a close ally to Moi because he worked for him in Kabarnet.

Jirongo probably did not trust those who were very close to Moi due to their split, and did not want to become a slave to his regime.
