Kisumu Mum Allegedly Pours Kerosene On Her 12-Year-Old Boy, Burns Her To Death For Stealing Ksh 150
Kisumu County was thrown into mourning after a 12-year-old boy from Nyamgun area in Seme sub-county lost his life in a shocking act of violence allegedly committed by his own mother.
According to police reports, the minor, identified as B.O, sustained severe burn injuries after his mother accused him of stealing Sh150.
Neighbours said the woman poured kerosene on the boy before setting him on fire during the heated confrontation.
The boy was rescued on Monday night by locals who rushed to extinguish the flames.
He was taken to Kombewa County Hospital in critical condition, but despite efforts to save him, doctors confirmed he had suffered 90 percent burns on his upper body, hands, and groin. He succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday morning.
Detectives from Kombewa Police Station and officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Seme visited both the hospital and the scene of the incident. At the homestead, they recovered a partially burnt blue T-shirt believed to have belonged to the victim.
Police sources revealed that the mother, aged 47, was immediately arrested.
