IEBC Requests Sh888 Million Supplementary Budget for Voter Registration, Exit Package and By-Elections

 

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has requested a supplementary budget of Sh888 million to support several key activities, including voter registration, by-elections, the exit package for former Chief Executive Officer Hussein Marjan, and the purchase of vehicles for commissioners.

Acting IEBC Chief Executive Officer Moses Sunkuli revealed the request while explaining the commission’s current financial needs. 

According to Sunkuli, the additional funds are necessary to ensure the electoral body continues carrying out its responsibilities effectively.

Sunkuli said part of the money will be used to support voter registration activities across the country. 

The commission plans to continue updating the voter register to ensure that more eligible Kenyans are included in the electoral system.
