Labour Court Halts Vetting of Homa Bay Deputy Governor Nominee, Cabinet Picks Over Gender Rule Concerns

 

Labour Court has suspended the vetting and approval of Homa Bay Deputy Governor nominee Danish Onyango and several Cabinet nominees over a potential breach of the two-thirds gender rule.

The orders follow an application filed by two petitioners who challenged the composition of the proposed appointments, arguing that they do not comply with constitutional requirements on gender representation in public offices.

In its ruling, the court barred the relevant authorities from proceeding with the vetting and approval process until the matter is heard and determined.
